DUTIES
All regular and therapeutic diets are prepared in advance and produced in compliance with the PAWC Food Service Policy. Observe the typical PAWC menus and receipts. Food is weighed, served, and distributed to various wards. Follow health and safety laws while keeping the kitchen space and equipment clean and in good condition. Adhere to hospital/PAWC policy and dress in accordance with departmental guidelines. Observe and abide with Health and Safety guidelines. Follow and abide by basic control methods and operational standards.
REQUIREMENT
The bare minimum is proficiency in reading, writing, and math. Experience: Adequate background in a sizable Food Service Unit Experience with large-scale hospital catering is appropriate. experience with therapeutic diets, food groups, cooking techniques, and the right knowledge of how to prepare and portion meals using standardized recipes. familiarity with the Cook-Chill System that is appropriate.
Suitable experience in patient care. such as a ward hostess. Basic prerequisites for the position: The incumbent must be ready to work shifts and overtime, including on the weekends and on federal holidays. Those in office must be in good physical and mental health in order to lift big goods and stand all day. ability to perform physically demanding labor. Knowledge and skill-based competencies: understanding of large-scale industrial foodservice production for normal and therapeutic diets.
knowledge of safety, hygiene, and occupational health principles. the capacity to sustain effective interpersonal skills. Communication skills in two out of the three Western Cape official languages. It will be advantageous to show proof of attendance from a kitchen cleaner, kitchen hygiene, or assistant chef. the capacity to work under pressure and within a team. the capacity to read, speak, and write in at least two of the Western Cape’s three official languages.
