REQUIREMENTS
Basic literacy is required as a minimum educational qualification (ability to read, write and basic numeracy skills). Experience: Appropriate experience in personnel and cargo transportation. The position has an inherent requirement: A valid driver’s license with the code (C1/EC) (Code 10) is required. Valid Public Driver’s License (PDP). Willingness to work overtime and fulfill standby responsibilities. Competencies Knowledge/skills: Ability to speak in at least two of the Western Cape’s three official languages. Knowledge of periodic maintenance, vehicle inspections for flaws, and safe driving techniques. Acceptance of accountability and responsibility, as well as the ability to operate alone and unattended. Knowledge of Transport Circular 4 of 2000, as well as the Garden Route District Region’s road networks. Basic grounds and building maintenance skills are required.
DUTIES
Transporting official passengers, patients, mail, packages, medication, products, and equipment on a daily basis, as well as completing logbooks. Blood products are delivered and collected. Maintain and clean government cars on a regular basis. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any issues. When necessary, do routine administrative tasks and respond to emergencies. When needed, relief employees can be found within the component. As needed, do general grounds and building upkeep. When transporting products, use a Heavy Vehicle (C1/EC) (Code 10) if necessary.
