REQUIREMENTS FOR CLEANING POST:
Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required. Experience: Appropriate cleaning experience in a hospital or health institution setting. Willingness to work shifts and weekends is an inherent prerequisite of the profession. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to effectively communicate in at least two of the Western Cape’s three official languages Time management is excellent. Health and Safety procedures are well-versed.
DUTIES OF THE CLEANER:
Cleaning of the Emergency Communication Centre’s offices, common areas, kitchens, and ablution facilities, including the radio workshop, safety desk, and PHOC (Metro Control), including deep cleaning and specific cleaning jobs. To prevent injuries and the transmission of infection, maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping floors, dusting, polishing floors and furniture, emptying bins on a daily basis, cleaning windows, light shades, walls, and all toilets, sluices, and drains. Clean and store cleaning equipment, such as polishing and scrubbing machines, mops, brooms, and buckets, after each use. Ensure that rubbish is removed from the building on a daily basis. Notify management if there are any deficiencies or repairs that need to be done. Relief is provided in accordance with the needs of the service.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING A PORTER :
Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required. Appropriate experience is required. The position has an inherent requirement: A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB). Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including overnight. Willing to work with bodies (corpses). Possessing the ability to lift and move heavy objects. Ability to converse in at least two of the Western Cape’s three official languages (knowledge/skills).
DUTIES OF THE PORTER:
Accompany walking patients and convey sitting/non-walking patients from reception to consulting rooms or from consulting rooms to treatment centers in a wheelchair or trolley. Visitors are directed or accompanied to various destinations. Assist with the loading and unloading of patients from ambulances/vehicles, as well as the movement of patients from beds to trolleys and vice versa. Assist in the transport of medical equipment and oxygen cylinders (both empty and full). Carry medical and other documentation to the reception area (patient files, reports, etc.). Assist in the movement of medical equipment between rooms. Responsible for the hygiene of trolleys and wheelchairs, as well as the reporting of any faults. Assist in the transport of bodies from the wards.
