POST 09/: FOOD SERVICES AID

SALARY: R104 073 per annum
CENTRE: Valkenberg Hospital
Necessity requirements: Basic reading, writing, and numerical skills. Experience: Appropriate experience in a large-scale hospital Food Service environment. Inherent requirements of the job: Incumbent must be prepared to work shifts and overtime which include weekends and public holidays. Incumbents must be physically strong to lift heavy objects and be on their feet the entire day. Must be willing to enter hospital wards. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of production for normal and therapeutic diets and the ability to prepare food according to standardized recipes. Knowledge of hygiene, occupational health, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and safety principles, basic cleaning, and maintenance of equipment. capability to function in a group and work under pressure and maintain good interpersonal skills. The ability to read, speak and write in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
Arrange and dish all standard and therapeutic menus and follow standardized recipes and diets during production. Weigh, dish, and distribute food to various wards. Be of service in terms of receipt and storage of all provisions and stock in the foodservice unit. Clean all areas, utensils, and equipment in the Food Service Department. Follow and adhere to Health and Safety prescripts. Follow and adhere to elementary control measures and standard operational procedures.
