SPECIALIST: CUSTOMS (SAP)
The role is responsible for the compliance, administration and processing of customs clearances for imports and exports.
You will issue clearing & forwarding instructions on imports and exports ensuring compliance with SARS Customs legislation and taking into account APDP and Free Trade Agreement regulations and requirements. You will capture import and export transactions in SAP, verify accuracy of entries and approve clearing agent invoicing for deferment account import VAT and duties. You will reconcile the SARS import and export declaration statistics to SAP and ensure their correctness, investigate and correct any discrepancies. You will conduct the reconciliation of the utilisation of APDP rebate credit certificates between the SARS utilisation statements and that which is recorded in SAP and investigate and correct any discrepancies. You will ensure that there are no financial losses that arise due to expired certificates by optimal usage of APDP rebate certificates. You will prepare and submit marine insurance claims against shipping lines and capture charge codes for customs and logistics costs in SAP and you will capture and maintain Customs HS Tariffs database in SAP and verify these with reference to SARS Customs legislation. Lastly you will support the other Customs Specialists within the department as stand-in and with ad hoc projects and department queries.
You will also take responsibility for the internalcontrol environment within your areas of responsibility.Qualifications and Experience
• Matric and relevant Finance/Customs/Logistics Diploma or Certificate,
• Bcom is an advantage
• +3 years’ experience within a customs / freight management / manufacturing environment
• SAP experience
• SARS Customs experience ia an advantage
• MS Excel (excellent)
• MS Word
• Ability to interpret legislation & regulations (Customs Act, SARS Policies, APDP Regulations)
